Quote from mickyc30 :CRT? ure living in the past Mr.Jammer!

CRT have actually more advantages than LCD which just became a fashion. 90% of people don't know to recognize a decent LCD among others or setup it correctly.
I would like a LCD monitor, but it will be well chosen for high performance, will cost €€€€ and will need a complete new computer to hang it up, €€€€ again. So my 11 years old Trinitron CRT will serve me for some more years , I currently prefer to spent my money for my real car.

Quote from JJ72 :Because if you look closer there a black aerodynamic piece underneath it, purely artistic choice of course, when I did that part I was thinking about how to take some visual weight off that long front overhang.

Ah, I have a CRT monitor, I don't see that part since it's too dark..

Good job JJ72, the rear bumper is sweet, but why the front bumper's end just in front of the front wheels is raised?

can you tell me how to make them light?

I'm not a 3dsmax user but I would apply a light emitting material for a disc located just behind the headlights's lens.

Trying to remove it in safe mode would be dangerous since the anti-virus could not be loaded and the virus would expand freely during the startup.
I know that a Mandriva linux Live CD can browse windows partitions but I can't remember if it can delete files on them. Look for a similar application that doesn't load your windows installation's kernels but allows you to remove safely the virus.
Note that it's I'm thinking, it may be a wrong method though.

THAT is a good idea to use a PSP with LFS

Why do some people want at all price to run LFS on inadequate platforms?
There are plenty of games which offer adequate and funny gameplay on these consoles. LFS is designed for pc only. I don't want to run LFS on my TI-89 just to play in classroom, or on a PSP when i'm in W.C...

Seriously LFS emulation has more disadvantages than fun.
Possible solution

Good new

I managed to connect to any LFS server.
I applied the same internet connection method with my new modem as my old one. It seems to like it because it automatically switched to bridge mode . I still hate this modem..
I remember that I had lowID problem with eMule several years ago with my old modem. That's why I switched it to bridge mode. It's probably the same problem with LFS.

Here is my workaround; sorry for French XP screenshots (and possible wrong translation to english):
  1. Open network connections in windows configuration panel
  2. Then click on "create a new connection" on the left

  3. Click "next" and select "establish a new connection to internet"

  4. Select "Manually setup my connection"

  5. Select "Connect to a (wide band) using an username and a password"

  6. Enter a name for your connection

  7. Enter the username and password your ISP gave to you. NEVER tell them to ANYONE!!

  8. Click finish
  9. Before using this connection make sure your modem is disconnected from internet (not from your computer!) and set it up to make it in bridge mode (depending on the model, maybe it's automatic, I don't know)
  10. you can connect to internet with your new connection method
Hope this will help the most users as possible.. For me the problem is solved.

Guys I found a clue

I checked the bigger difference since last time I've played LFS online: my modem.

I switched back to my good ol' modem and configured a PPPoE connection within XP (the username and password are stored in windows not in the modem which acts in this case in bridge mode). Connect to a LFS server, it works.

Just after I've reinstalled my new current modem, connect to a LFS server, it doesn't work.

It seems that the modem my ISP forced me to use doesn't stop to prove me it's a sh*t. But it's not a firewall problem, nor a virus.

So I must find now what exactly in that crap blocks the guest info. But I'm starting to think that the guest info may be wrong and the server could not reach the player's computer.

Quote from Victor :i find it really strange that people think "if it's just one server, it would be that server's fault but it's all servers so this must be LFS's fault, even though before I had no problems at all".

Have you (most people in this thread) EVER considered it could be your ISP's fault?

Actually I've not found out yet the origin of the problem, so I didn't deduced it's LFS's fault.
About my ISP, I doubt that it blocks the guest info packets and not all the other ones (including the underground websites I visit sometimes :razz but if it's the case, LFS would be finished for me :weeping:

Quote from Victor :Ever wondered why there are hundreds of people online who have no problem whatsoever?

That is the question.

Quote from Victor :As for the guest info message and what it means - it's pretty straight forward : when you connect to a host you need to tell the host about yourself, so the host knows who joins. That's guest info.

Ahh ok thanks for the info. Time for me to go deeper in my investigation.

Quote from T.J. :Well... I felt the passion for 3D burn again, but I ****ing hate that blender is so unstable.. The autosave doesn`t even work right and it crashes all the time..

My Blender crashed few times but I tried to do weird things with it. Otherwise it's quite stable with me...

btw aren't these mammoth exhaust pipes designed for a 20L engine? :biggrinfl

I cannot test it right now, but are you sure that your handbrake button hasn't clutch mapped on it too? (for drifting purpose maybe)
Anyway, on a real car, it is advised to press the clutch when shifting even with the engine turned off.

Quote from Zemathar :Exactly what does it do when you get that errormessage?

That's I want to know too to understand the problem. I gonna ask the developers for it.
I tried Wireshark but my network knowledge is limited and I can only see that there's no network traffic when LFS is waiting guest info..

mmm, we are going nowhere :weeping:
It would be shameful to give up LFS just because of that connection problem :tombstone

Indigo is not as flexible, it's unbiased and I can't turn off AA, AO, GI or stuff like that mentioned nowhere in Indigo vocabulary .
The main settings are camera, materials, tone map and resolution. To render fast in Indigo I have to make small resolution renders of one part after one.

Hum, since I don't have 3ds max, can someone PM me this scene (http://www.ssitruc.com/) in .3ds or .obj format?

I would love to test my render skills on it :mischievo

I use Vray. (sorry for the non-lfs render)

The paint is too much noisy

Quote from bmwe30m3 :Update,i've been working on the render kit,and found a better way to do lighting, heres few examples

Looks good, I suggest to add more light on the sides of the cars (at least to see the rims)

Thanks mates

Quote from samyip :I think if Bogey tells you how long it took to render each image, you may freaked out

GweHehe :insane: 50-60 hours each (with my 1.6GHz dual core laptop, but it would be much faster with the last quad core plus a small home render farm)
It is quite frustrating to wait before posting the renders and I have to wait 35 hours to see if the render is correctly set up, otherwise it's deleted and I must restart the render from zero.
Patience is required but experience grows up exponentially

Wow nice composition!

Quote from Nemox :Version 2
Still not perfect though..
And the new truck and trailer skins are still being worked on, but it's getting there..

Make the yellow marks on the ground matt instead of mirror, add bump map on the asphalt, add a skybox to remove the boring lightning plane above the car. I think the wall texture is not yet finished so I don't have to comment it.
